“Yesterday – Kurt Westergaard passed away peacefully, after a prolonged period of illness. My deepest condolences to his family and all near to him! In 2005, upon request, to highlight and promote freedom of speech and for as part of critique of a of radicals, hijacking the world’s second largest religion to suppress the former and to do evils, such as murder and terror, he drew for his newspaper the now infamous Mohammed cartoons, thus sparking the greatest international diplomacy crisis in Denmark since the second world war.

In 2010, he was attempted murdered in his own home by radicals, and had to live under close police protection more more than a decade, up to his death. Numerous plots to have him killed was then and since foiled by Danish intelligence and police. Others, in Denmark, France and other countries – were not so fortunate; they were outright murdered and people continue to be so to this day. Kurt was a great man in many ways…” (Niklas Nikolajsen på Facebook, 19. juli 2021)
